First Lecture of the Spring 23' Series

By Jesus Velarde

On Wednesday April 12th, Blockchain @ UCSB Launches Lecture Series on Web 3.0 and Ethereum Blockchain with Cydia Creator, Jay Freeman, as Guest Speaker

Blockchain @ UCSB is proud to announce the launch of our lecture series on Web 3.0 and the Ethereum blockchain. This ten-week series aims to provide a general conceptual understanding of blockchain technology, consensus, mining, and cryptography to interested students.

We are excited to welcome Jay Freeman, a UCSB Alumni and the creator of Cydia, as our guest speaker for the upcoming lecture. With his experience in developing one of the most popular decentralized app stores, Jay will provide valuable insights into the practical applications of blockchain technology.

Although the lecture series does not go super in depth into the technology, participants will have the opportunity to interact with decentralized applications (DAPPS) and gain a better understanding of their functionality. The lectures will cover the essential concepts of blockchain technology and provide a foundation for further exploration into the field.

While students will not be building their own DAPPS in this lecture series, they will learn about the potential for decentralized systems to revolutionize industries and shape the future. Upon completion of the series, participants will receive a certificate of completion from Blockchain @ UCSB to demonstrate their proficiency in blockchain technology.

Blockchain @ UCSB is committed to creating a community of blockchain enthusiasts and fostering interest in the technology on campus and beyond. We invite all interested students to join us for the remaining lectures of the series and to get involved with our organization to stay updated on the latest developments in this exciting field.
